Saint Barth Cata Cup regatta 2016

The St Barts Cata Cup is the occasion to gather prestigious boats such as GC32s, Tornados, Flying Phantoms, Class 40s and Diam 24s to confront to each others in a breathtaking race. Just like last year, aficionados of the St Barth Cata Cup can follow the race live on the event Website .

The organizing committee has confirmed some 30 circuits for the 4 days of the event. Some small changes on the water are awaiting the racers, but nothing has been revealed before the pre-race briefing.

All racers have arrived on the island during the last days. While some have been busy preparing their boats at Public Beach, some others could already be seen out to test the waters of St Jean Bay. The sailing conditions have been ideal to start off the week for those who were able to go out early.

A little over fifty crews were on the starting line of the “Design Affairs” race this Thursday, November 17. The conditions were perfect, after a small shower passed over the islet of Bonhomme a little before the race started at 2PM, which didn’t affect any of the seasoned participants whatsoever. The official opening ceremony, with the presentation of the crews, will take place at 7PM at the Nikki Beach, and the results will be officially announced right after, at 7:30PM. Then, to entertain the evening, DJ Patris Gero & Jimmy Sax will perform live.

The following days, Friday 18, the “St Barth Assurances Allianz” race will take place; and Saturday 19, the “Marché U” race. They will both start twice a day at 9:30AM and 2PM, the publication of the results will be announced at 7:30PM, and festivities will follow at the Nikki Beach, including free and opened-to-the-public concerts with Asher Otto & Itchy Fee, Onyan & 3 Cylinders, and again DJ Patris Gero & Jimmy Sax to close the 2016 edition.
